For a typical 350 small block or a 383 stroker street performance engine, heads with 170 cc to 190 cc runners are probably the best choice. Per the '70 Chevy service manual, the spec was R43 for the 307 and R44 for all the 350's except LT-1 which was R43. Strange maybe but true. Ive always had good luck with R44TS plugs, which is for heads with tapered seat plugs (the "T" is for tapered seat). If you want to only make 300hp, these heads will do it with some flat top pistons. The best factory heads are Vortec's that came on the last 350's, but they take a specific intake and centerbolt valve covers.
