30lb braid to mono.

On a boring winter's day, I tested 50lb braid on 80lb flouro and pulled until it broke. I did it over and over and over and the knot never failed, the braid always snapped well away from the knot. When I did the same with an albright, it was the knot that always failed right where the braid connects to the fluro/mono.

But noticed most people have higher lb test braids connected to smaller mono..but why? For example, let's say you got 65lb braid backing then running 100yds of 40lb mono to a fluro leader. I understand leaders are important for bait presentation and finicky fish (i.e. 30# vs 40#), but why have 65lb braid if you're going to run 40lb mono?.
