John deere 9650 sts problems.
Wow. Good thing you were alert. I was having difficultly with my 9650 sts starting embers on the separator drive unit at the backside of the engine. Found a baffle on the rear of the engine that had been bent toward the front to the engine not allowing good airflow across the exhaust manifold. I pulled it out and haven't had a problem since.

A friend of ours has the same problem. He just got done picking white corn and burned up about 4 or 5 of these reverser gear boxes on his 2002 9650STS's. My '00 9650sts had the meter on the elevator, with a lid I could remove and wipe off the inside plates. Never had a minute's worth of problems with it.
