Naked Guest Stories. Post your naked/almost naked guest stories here! I'll get started. This is my first one: A few days after I finished training for my first hotel job (NA at a Somfort Cuites) our town was hit by unseasonably cold weather & an ice/snow storm [rare for our area]. A man wearing nothing but a towel came to the front desk, saying ...

How Dare You Not Remember ME! I normally work the PM shift at a 150 room hotel in just outside our downtown area. We average 20-40 check ins a night. One evening a lady, let's call her Joy, arrives to check in. She gives me her name and it's not on the reservation list. I check digital check ins -- not there..

eh depending on the time of the shift and property, sometimes there's only one or two employees in the whole building. i theoretically COULD go upstairs and make coffee if the breakfast person hasnt come in yet (i.e. before 5 am), but i can't leave the desk unmanned for more than a few minutes. If the setup is similar to our LG tv's it isn't a mode you really turn on or off, it's a set of controls that you can enable and disable. I would suggest fishing out a manual for the tv online. ricardob15 • 3 yr. ago. I have it but it doesn't say how to change the mode right now is in the mode of cpu-ftg which is the locked one.I was surprised because I said nobody was in that room and he said "oh yeah I booked online and came in and grabbed a key". "I'm a travel agent and just assumed you could check in on line". I just stood there trying to comprehend the absolute stupidity of this guy. He thought it was an online check in.r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk. r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk. A place where people from the hotel (mostly) industry can come and share the stories of the things our guests do and say that make customer service the hated job that it is. Non-hotel front desk stories welcome, so long as the tale involves a front desk. Retail employee?

The bill mentions that California law specifically forbids fraudulently calling a critter a service animal. CAPC §365.7. $1000 fine, six months in jail. Granted, the law is mostly for people trying to sell fake service dogs, but it's not saying that it's not about people trying to bring pets where they shouldn't...But I'm a irresponsible parent. For a change of pace, this story if from the front desk of a medical practice. A woman approached my desk today to sign in for her appointment, everything on fairly routine until she realizes she has a copay. "I have been coming here for literal months and have never had a copay, my insurance" blah blah blah.I said, if it was fraud, someone would contact them. That would almost certainly be their credit card processor, filing a notice of charge back, with a reason of fraudulent usage of a credit card. At that time, they now have been the victim of a crime and should report that crime to their local PD.

Got to use my favorite comeback for a jackass. There's a concert in town tonight. Which usually means on my shift I will have more than the usual (most of the time zero) number of jackasses, drunk or otherwise, on my night audit shift. Our hotel has a front parking lot, and a back parking lot (just as big) on the other side of the hotel.

I alternate between 3 different pairs. I have two pairs of shoes from the Cam Newton collection (retail $140, but you can almost always find sales on them at Belk and such, I got mine on black friday for $13 a pop) and they are actually really well made shoes, with a insole that feels like its memory phone which is great.Freaky Hotel Guests. This post is referring to people who try to get front desk staff into their room for perverted reasons. A couple days ago, my friend was just telling me a story of how some person was trying to coerce them into their room by leaving them their key card. She then left a note the next morning with her contact information.Unless your company requires you to use a travel agency, don't use them. Ever. Kayak is an aggregator so the room could in fact be guaranteed. If it's pulled from your chain's booking site, for instance. Kayak shows that it's available and directs you to a third party site (generally) that might say it's available.I disagree, for example say to book 7 days its $350. That is 50 per night and to book 5 days its $450. That is 90 per night. A guest just wants to pay $50 per night but only wants to stay for 5 days so they book it for 7 days and effectively gets the rate to 50 per day and now they plan to leave on the 5th day.I have a story for you that goes back a couple of decades. This actually puts it back into the early 90's. I received a call from one of our rooms. I was working for R hode I sland by Parriott. The female guest was screaming at me. She said that I purposely am trying to ruin her vacation.

I know of hotels that will book the taxi/Uber for you and will pay the taxi/Uber themselves. They will charge you double what it costs though. So a $100 taxi that they pay will result in a $200 charge to your folio. Ofc they let you know the price and if you agree you sign for it. You won't get it for free.

Welcome to the lobby of a hotel, where folks working the front desk have all had to deal with some ridiculous behavior. These stories were compiled from Reddit's r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk subreddit, and let's just say that some deal with entitlement, some deal with unfortunate smells, and some deal with shady guests. At the end of the day, though, the moral of all these stories is to respect the ....

At my hotel nobody can be given access to a room in someone else's name. Most hotels will have a similar policy and require a credit card and photo ID matching the name on the reservation in order to check in. An easy solution would be to call ahead and add their name to the reservation. Rothriel • 8 yr. ago.As far as I know Booking.com has fairly standard procedures. If the card declines, you mark this on the reservation on Booking.com's extranet and they automatically send an email giving the guest 24 hours to provide new details. If no new details are provided, the hotel can then cancel the reservation after 36 hours.Working front desk is driving me insane. Hi! I'm on mobile and formatting is probably not the best. I got out of my 3-11 shift today and I'm not quite sure if can stand hospitality anymore. I'm a 17 year old female who works 3-11 shifts or 4-9 double on. There used to be a shit ton of hotels owned by Patels, hence the scam. Now that someone at your property has fallen for the scam, expect calls like that to increase for a while. A few years ago around midnight I had a guest come up to the front desk. A woman and a young girl around 4. The woman told me there was a couple of people sleeping in the back staircase. 399 votes, 24 comments. I wear a few hats at our property, maintenance, van driver and desk. Haunted Rooms. Ok, so some context. We get a review a little while ago from an anonymous profile who proceeds to give us a bad review about a haunted room. They go on in the review about how a chair moved on it's own across the room and the shower kept turning on on its own. They also tell about the light flickering throughout the night.Read the email. Most of the time I'll tell them exactly why. They fucked up, caused me problems, and if it was bad enough to get you DNR'd, I'm not going to be nice to you. Edit: There has been ONCE where we had a guy that would keep ...Thoughts after 6 years at the Front Desk. Hello fellow colleagues of the Front Desk. This is probably going to be a long post, so TLDR at the bottom. I landed assbackwards into the Front Desk some 6 years ago I believe. Initially, I got my masters degree in some super sexy unpronounceable sciency thingy with ZERO job application and opportunities. He is spooked by me, but approaches the desk. He explains he just got released from jail and needed a place to stay until our bus depot opened at around 6 AM. He is from Michigan and has nowhere to go. The poor dude looks no older than twenty or twenty-one years old, and his story tugs on my heart.

Worked front desk for years. A frequent executive stayed once a month. He was good looking, quiet. Has a wife and they adopted two kids. Months into him staying, a very obvious lady of the night walked in asking how to get to his room. Cheating, hooking, etc. are as common at a hotel like rain in Seattle.

He makes small talk with me and asks if I am new. I tell him I came from another hotel and he asks which. Decent enough pleasantries for small talk. He then asks me if his room is right out of the elevator. Having been used to my old property, I tell him yes. He says good and is on his way.stories from the front desk of hotels/hostels/and others in the hospitality industry. Ok so Have wanted to relate this old happening but had to wait til my Karma and time on reddit was enough to let me. Im 45 now medically disabled but at the time was working when this happend. I'm just picturing the GM of some hole in the wall on the side of a highway with a tall sign advertising rooms for $39.99 reading this and bubbling over with a smug sense of pride. Practically running over to their only front desk computer to open that saucy file. 8 days ago. The trash cans are near vending machines because you're expected to consume right by the vending machine and toss your trash there. But there's no trash can readily available out on the streets/park, etc. Street food vendors sell their ware with expectations that customers would eat right there and hand trash right back to them.At my hotel nobody can be given access to a room in someone else's name. Told the front desk what happened and asked them to call us whenever the luggage showed since my mom was distraught. We get the call at 2:30 am and they offered to bring the bag to our room. When they brought the bag up, they offered their condolences. Her statement caught me so off-guarded. "I understand you need to make money by selling us more expensive room, but you have to give people a room they can take shower in." "But you can still shower in the Jacuzzi room." "I understand you need to make money..." "Wait, ma'am.

Roughly, 30 minutes later one of the cops returns. Detective has called a second time. Cop goes up and comes down, once again, finding nothing wrong. Things seem to quiet down for a while, but two hours later (roughly 3:45am) a third cop arrives. Detective has called once more, and the cop has heard from his fellow officers of our Detective guest.

But they won't be the idiots railing on a bong and figuring that a towel'd door is good enough to make up for their massive, stinky clouds of smoke. They'll be the ones taking itty bitty hits and blowing them carefully, through a carbon-filter tube, out the window.Lost and Found is a courtesy, and a fairly expected one, but not an expense. We actually got $697 just last week for sending a L & F item to Brazil. FedEx billed us by mistake afterwards, but the feeling of hitting the guest's card for the charge was just too sweet. 17.Got to use my favorite comeback for a jackass.
